- From the 1881 Census (RG11 Piece 5545 Folio 55 Page 5,6) Richard, 21, a Farm Servant, was working for William Davies, 42, Farmer (of acres) employing 2 labourers), from Bala, and his wife Cathrine,44, from Llanegryn, at Fronewydd, Llanegryn, Merionethshire. The couple had 6 children; John, 14, Kate E, 12, Griffith, 10, Navin, 7, William, 4, and Thomas H, 10 months. The other servant was John Pughe, 20. Apart from William Davies everyone was born in Llanegryn.
From the 1891 Census (RG12 Piece 4641 Folio 126 Page 7) Richard, 32, an Agricultural Labourer from Llanfihangel, Merionethshire, was living with his wife Lavin(i)a, 30, from Ysbytty Ystwyth, Cardiganshire, at Peniarth Lodge, Llanegryn, Merionethshire. With them were their children William, 8, a Scholar, Hannah, 5, a Scholar, Elizabeth, 3, and Kate A, 11 months, all born in Llanegryn, Merionethshire.
From the 1901 Census (RG13 Piece 5005 Folio 47 Page 38) Richard, 38, a Coal Hewer from Llanegryn, Merionethshire was living with his wife Lavinia, 36, from Pontrhydygroes, Cardiganshire, at 2 Wesleyan Cottages, Penrhiwceiber, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire. With them were their children William, 18, a Coal Hewer, Scholars Hannah, 13, Elizabeth, 11, Kate A, 10, Richard, 7, and Margaret E, 5, along with John M, 2. Boarding with the family were two other Coal Hewers, Thomas Williams, 32, from Penrhyndeudraeth, Merionethshire and Job Jones, 22, from Blaenrhondda, Glamorganshire.
