    • Lived in 1/83 Monument Road, Ladywood, Birmingham.

From the 1881 Census (RG11 Piece 3005 Folio 124 Page 34) we see that William (Henry), 3, a Scholar was with his parents Charles, 36, a Warehouseman, and Emma, 37, at their home 99 Back of George Street, All Saints, Birmingham, Warwickshire. With him were his siblings George E(dwin), 14, a Ship Lamp Maker, Elizabeth, 9, Scholar, Emma, 5, Scholar and 9 month old Charles.

From the 1891 Census (RG12 Piece 2367 Folio 114 Page 3) William, 13, Tin Plate Worker born Birmingham, Warwickshire, was with his mother Emma, widow, 47, Needlewoman from Derby, Derbyshire, at 4 Back of 13 Carver Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. With him was his sister Elizabeth, 19, Warehouse woman (Brass Foundry) born Tutbury, Staffordshire.

From the 1901 Census (RG13 Piece 2824 Folio 91 Page 3) William H(enry), 23, a Tin Plate Worker from Birmingham, Warwickshire, was living with his mother Emma, widow, 56, from Derby, Derbyshire, at 4 Court, 4 House, St. Pauls, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.

Interestingly, on the same Census Return there is an Alice Illidge, 16, a Dry Soap Packer, at no. 16 Calver Street (just around the corner?) - whom our William Henry later married. [4]
