  • Notes
    • 21.10.1778 m. Ann Wain (see appendix) at North Cray, Lic. Witnesses William Waite and another. 3 Chn. He left the parish of Erith about 1770, married at North Cray and farmed at Hockenden. He died when son James was about 13 years old - later his widow married - - - - - Dawson. Martha Hughes had been told that James was a landed proprietor and Dawson played ducks and drakes with his patrimony. But it is probable that he rented rather than owned farming land. (PTO. Ech. Ap. Children of Dawson:

Elizabeth Dawson, 1799 Woolwich - d. 24.4.1879 (80). 77 Sussex St. Poplar. She was add to be very musical. She left a Will (under ?l00). Her nephew James Wates, carver and gilder, was witness and executor of her Will, which seams to have bean very fairly and carefully planned. She probably had no children as she remembered bar nephews and nieces :- Maria Reed, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Dawson, Mrs. Lucy Dawson, Mr. John Dawson, Mrs. Augusta Dawson. Mrs. T.R. Clease, James, Ben., Wm. and Jos. Wates. She left 1 guinea each to eight of bar nieces and nephews for their expenses when they attended her funeral. She also remembered various other friends, leaving one "the inlaid table and squirrel in case" and "?5 for the poor of Coverdale School Room" - - - - "I wish Mr. Holden my Pastor to have 2 guineas when he comes to my funeral - - - My four (women) lodgers, 1 guinea each ----."

John Dawson, CA 1801, seems to have had at least 5 children.
      Lucy's husband
      Charles Dawson
      John Dawson
      daughter m. Clease.
      daughter m. Reed.
