- [S9425] Owens, Pat, Pat Owens, 4 Mar 2015>, "RE: Henry Thomas," (Reliability: 3).
Hi Phil,
I owe you a huge apology.I sent as I thought, an e-mail to my grandaughter yesterday, only to discover that it never arrived!
I then checked my out box and discovered that your message was one of them.I sent it from my ipad so Idon't know why they haven't been sent.So sorry!
Anyway I can't tell you much more information than you have already.I haven't done any research for some time.My moyher was in and out of hospital throughout 2013 and sadly passed away in January last year aged 94.
Uncle Harry as he was known and Aunt Lydia lived next door to my grandmother when I was growing up.uncle Harry was always in dungarees and spent most of his time in his allotment growing fruit and veg or in his greenhouse where he grew grapes and tomatoes.
I do remember Israel visiting them.Lizzie eventually lived with Harry and Lydia.I was facinated by them both as in my day they were very unusual.Israel was black Lizzie was slightly lighter skinned but they both had that very tight curly hair.
Uncle Harry was white and was Thomas even though he was born between Israel and Lizzie whom the family say were full brother and sister.
Their mother apparently smoked a clay pipe(not much help)
Lizzie did have an illegitimate daughter Eva(seems to be a family trait)Her father apparently was a butcher but I don't know his name!Eva married Bill Lewis and had two children Marian and Graham.Marian married a John Williams and died last year.Graham died some time ago. They lived in Sudbrook.
Lizzie died 13th December1958 aged 80.
You've probably got this information already.Sorry can't be of more help and so so sorry for the delay in you receiving this message.
Best Wishes,
Pat.
