  • Notes
    • From the 1861 England Census for Newington, Surrey (RG9 Piece 335 Folio 77 Page 5) Thomas, 48, Confectioner from Newington, Surrey, was with his wife Maria, 47, from Chelsea, Middlesex, at 17 Great Bland Street, Newington, Surrey, England. With them were their children Frederick, 13, Baker's Boy born Newington, Surrey, Arthur, 11, Scholar born Newington, Surrey, Edwin, 8, Scholar born Newington, Surrey, and Emma, 5, Scholar born Newington, Surrey. Visiting the family were Henry Holmes, widower, 28, Confectioner from Cripplegate, Middlesex, and his daughter Emily, 3, Scholar born Newington, Surrey. Lodging with the family was Charles Keevil, 24, Journeyman Baker from Newington, Surrey.

Note: Anna Rowe tells me that Charles Keevil was the son of Thomas Keevil (1808 Bratton, Wiltshire) and Eliza Berry (abt 1808).

      James McKay notes:

Recorded as a Baker(Journeyman) by profession.

In the Parish Records of St. Leonard's, Shoreditch, London - his mother's first name is recorded as Mary (not Eliza). However, the mother's surname is not listed, which is the normal situation after a woman's marriage at this period. [2]
