      Hi Phil,

Is this the same alfred oakley as on my wikitree site?

      http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Oakley-883

Alfred worked in the Tin Works in Kidwelly. You'll find his name on this page from my brother's site (http://kidwellyhistory.co.uk/Industry/TinWorkers.htm).

Alfred's daughter Mary Oakley married Henry William Cox.
They lived in Penygraig Glamorganshire in early 1900's. Alfred was with them for a while working in a mine (1901 census - Penygraig, Ystradyfodwg, Pontypridd, Hy. Wm. Cox).

A few years later Henry and Mary moved to Alberta and finally British Columbia, Canada. Their grandchildren, my cousins, are still in BC.

      My connection.
John Cox the son of Henry Cox and Mary (Oakley) Cox was a Canadian soldier during WW2. He came to Kidwelly to find a relative (A 'Hughes'. I believe a relative of Catherine Hughes, Alfred's wife). While he was there John met Doreen Abraham (his future wife). Doreen was my mother's youngest sister. I moved to Vancouver 40 years ago after visiting John and Doreen.

      Regards,

      Roger Mansel
