How a Welshman bravely battled with a girl who was ablaze in a London flat, was told to a Western Mail correspondent.<\/p>\n
The girl, Emma BOOTH, aged sixteen, had been left alone on the top floor, and was dusting the mantel shelf, when her clothes caught fire. She ran to a room below, occupied by Mrs REYNOLDS.<\/p>\n
“I had my baby in my arm,” said Mrs. REYNOLDS, “when the girl suddenly came upon me, and I drew back.<\/p>\n
Mr. Evan George GRIFFITHS, a native of Aberystwyth, who has a brother at Ton Pentre, and relatives at Aberdovey, was first on the scene. My brother-in-law who was behind me took off his coat and flapped it around her; whilst Henry CHAPMAN, who is courting Miss BOOTH’S sister, also tried to tear off her clothing. We were all burned on the hands, which the firemen dressed.<\/p>\n
Miss BOOTH was hurried off to St. Thomas Hospital, and is in a critical condition.<\/p>\n
