521 I cannot get the software to accept 1739 without it automatically changing to 1739/40. Ah!

Double Dates Family Tree Maker can display double dates to account for the crossover between the Julian and Gregorian calendars. If you enter a date that falls between January 1 and March 25 for any year before 1753, a double date will appear.
Double dates work as follows: you can type either Jan 1, 1493/4 or Jan 1, 1493/1494; both display as January 1, 1493/94. If you don't type in both of the years, Family Tree Maker interprets the year you typed as the second year. For example, if you type January 1, 1494, it's displayed as January 1, 1493/94.

In an article in the Cornwall Family History Magazine Dec. 2001 "Visitatio
ns" Re - Visited - The Camborne Vivians by Trevor Brokenshire (C.F.H.S. mem. 07960).

Trevor has this to say of Roger Vivian.

Dealing just with Roger Vivian: The International Genealogy Index (IGI) and the Parish Register (PR) have a Roger, Son of John baptized on 4 Sept. 1715. The IGI and "Visitations", but not the Parish Registers, have a Roger born about 1721 (in the case of the IGI, the Transcribers of the Latter Day Saints always deducted 25 years from a marriage date of a person to arrive at an approximate birth date if they were unsure of a persons bap. record. In the case of Roger he married Elizabeth Eva on 6 Jan 1745 - 46 so they put his birth abt. 1721 although they had his correct bap. as 4th Sep. 1715).
An Indenture dated 19th September 1719 in respect of a lease granted by Francis Bassett of Tehidy of "the Moyety or halfendeale of two fields or closes of land commonly called or known by the several name or names of Trages Close and the Long Close.... being part of Camborne Veor " refers to " John Vyvyan, Mary his wife and Roger Vyvyan their son, " ie. to " Visitations" John Vivian of Roskear, his wife Mary Marrack and their son Roger (early Tehidy Estate leases use the spelling Vyvyan; in 1704, a lease granted to Johnson Vyvyan was signed "Jonson Vivian").

A Tehidy Estate plan of 1737, with schedules of tenants, shows that a John Vivian was a tenant of 1/2 of Teagues (Trages) Close and 1/2 of Conney Close. An entry, in Tehidy Estate records, dated 15 Nov. 1760 refers to " Roger Vivian. Camborne Veo. Moiety of 2 fields called Teagues Close & Coney Close with house and garden adjacent called Chapels Garden part of of tenement of Camborne Veor. Lives, Elizabeth wife of R.V. 41, John their son 11, after death of R.V. 45". Other entries in the Tehidy Estate records confirm Roger
s age, and hence year of birth as 1715. The records also refer to Roger as Captain Roger
(Mine Captain).

Roger is also referred to in a rent ledger of John Stockhouse Esq., the owner of the Pendarves Estate. In March 1776 there is an entry for Killivose; a property adjoining part of Camborne Veor: "Roger Vivian in Acct. with John Stockhouse. Rent due and paid 1774- Lady Day 1780" and " Recd. March 16, 1776 of Capt. Roger by J.S. 15...". Probably of a slightly earlier date there are two pages of accounts, showing, inter alia, Roger Vivian paying £3 for part of Killivose.

On 12th March 1777 Roger Vivian made a Will in which he named his wife Elizabeth as his Executrix. Bequests of cash were made to his sons Roger and Charles and his daughter Elizabeth. Roger
s son John was left a tenement " commonly called or known by the name Camborne Veor... which I hold by virtue of and under a lease from Francis Bassett Esq. Deceased" and also a tenement " commonly called or known by the name of Killivose....consisting of three fields which I hold by virtue of and under a lease from John Stockhouse Esq." Capt. Roger Vivian was buried 30th July 1777. Tehidy Estate records confirm Roger
s son John
s inheritance. An entry of 20th Feb. 1786 relates to the same property as that referred at 15th Nov. 1760 (as above) as follows;
"John Vivian. Camborne Veo. Moiety of two fields called Teagues & Cony Close with House and Garden, called Chapel
s Garden in Camborne Veor. Lives James 5 after death of Elizabeth Vivian mother of John and JV".

John Vivian (Gentleman) married Ann Paull on 13th April 1779 and their first born son, James was bap. on 1st July 1781 as "the son of Capt. Johnson Vivian". This John Vivian was he who was bap. on 23 April 1749 and is almost certainly the John "born 1751 " referred to by G.C.Boase in Collectanea Cornubiensis. In the J. Stockhouse accounts for 1787-1792 Capt. John Vivian Jnr. paid half a years rent, £1.10s for part of Killivose.

Having regard to the above facts, there is, in my opinion, more than adequate proof that the "Visitatations" entry for Roger Vivian is incorrect as to his date of birth.
With regard to the two parcels of land mentioned in Roger
s Will, the Camborne Churchwardens Accounts of about 1738 show that "Little John Vivian" was assessed as follows;
For part of Camborne Veor 8d.
the same for part of Mr. Basasetts Killivose 4d.
the same for part of Humphreys Killivose 5d
Having regard to the references to "Camborne Veor" and " Killivose" it is tempting to assume that Roger inherited from his father " Little John Vivian", the John Vivian of the 1737 plan and "John of Roskear" referred to above.

There is one other mistake in the "Visitations" for Roger Vivian which states Roger Vivian 3rd son born 1721, lived at Neath, co. Glamorgan, bur. 30th July 1777 at Camborne.
It was in fact Roger
s son Charles Vivian that lived at Neath. He was employed at the Neath Abbey Iron Company from 1792 until the early 1800

672 !Article in White County local paper:"Among other pioneer names that are
indelibly imprinted in this region, is that of Abraham Saylors and his wife
"Jincy"....In their childhood, here in White County, instead of hunting for
Indian arrow heads, Abraham and "Jincy" were able to behold the Indians,
themselves. About 1837 they were married. Their large two-story house, with
portico and breezeway, stood beside the Old Kentucky Road where it was crossed
by the Bunker Hill Road. This crossing became known as The Saylors Crossroads.
Named also, for Abraham, is the nearby and beautiful cemetery, Saylors
Cemetery. The last battle of the Civil War was fought at Salyors Creek, near
the Appamattox Court House in Virginia. This creek, no doubt had been named
for Abraham's Family." Picture included.

675 !Birth: William Swinton Gurley was still buying and selling land in Dublin,
Erath Co, TX in August and October of 1881. Have searched extensively for
records of land purchase in Bonham, Fannin Co, TX about that same time with no
luck. Bonham was a large metro area for that time period. No mention of
Gurley's in any county history book or cemeteries. Can not find any proof that
they lived there which the family states they were there from 1881 to about
1895.

left the family when she was about 2 years old. Have searched all of TX and IL
Census records for 1870 and 1880 and could not find any Bromwell that could be
her parents. There were lots of Brownell's. Her mother could have remarried
and be under a different surname or in another state between IL and TX at that
time (1870). Belle lists her age as 17 on the 7th of June 1880 census and that
her father was born in S.C. and her mother was born in IL.//3/2006 S Furber
5/3/2007 Made the connection to Flora Belle Barnwell born 9 Jan 1865 in Union County Illinois submitted to RootsWeb.com by Amy Sherwood on December 12, 2006 with email of a_e_sherwood@hotmail.com.
I believe this is Arie Belle Bromwell written in William Swinton Gurley's family bible who's marriage certificate lists her as Belle Brumwell in Erath County Texas 3 July 1879. The family bible als o lists her birth date as 3 July 1964 which would make her 16 on the day they were married. She has no family listed on the marriage certificate and my her photo I have always felt that she was young er than 16 at the time of their marriage and that the family bible was created to give her a false birthdate to make her 16 at the time of the marriage. There is no other documentation of "Arie" othe r than the family bible entry. It could be a nick name or a pet name the WS Gurley had for her. Flora Belle Barnwell's birth of 9 Jan 1964 would make Belle only 14 and a half on the marriage date o f 3 Jul 1879.

SOURCE: Personal knowledge of Opal Lewis & Frances Ann Lumpkin, L.E.Lewis'
memorial book, cemetery records (tombstones). Per Opal in 1900 they were
moving from Stratford to Custer County to file a claim on 160 acres. They were
each driving a wagon, He was in front and Ivy (age 2) was with Frances Ann be
hind him. A train was coming at Purcell and He went on across the tracks in
front of it. FA blistered her hads trying to keep her horses from following
across the tracks. They lived in a sod house untill he buile a home (about
1908). He had to tear down an "old pest house" (housing for contagious
infected people) and got small pox from it before building the new home. Her
parents, her grandmother Camilla Cash, Tommy Byford and Henry Jones and family
all came together and each filed seperately for 160 acres. They brought
barrels of molases and feed, whipper will, crowder pea, and black eyed pea
seeds with them. They planted and thrashed them to sell in town to by sugar,
flower, coffee and lard as supplies for that first year there.

male under 10, who is obviously James Cash Jr b. 1808. 1820 Census 3 males
under ten, 1 male 10/16, 1 male 16/18, 1 male 26/45, 1 female uner 10, 1 female
26/45. Ann then states, "it appears impossible for the 16/18 and 16/26 males
to be sons of James and Nelley. They are probably near relatives." however,
she does not list a male 18/26 above in her notes?!Thus 1820 family appears to

!taken from Anne's notes: "There is only one Washington Cash in Granville Co
NC in census of 1850. The county where this early family migrated to from
Virginia, and developed. In this census he is 25 or born 1825, and married to
Jenny, who is 19, and a baby daughter Ann. Both Jenny and baby may have died.
I think he migrated to Marshall Co Miss with his father, James Cash, Jr. that
year, as he is shown near him in the 1850 census Marshall Co, Miss, as married
to Camilla A Shaw. He is dwelling #876 and James Cash Jr is dwelling #872. It
is possible to be enumerated in census in 2 states. The enumerators were often
not too sharp, and even if he stated he had been listed in NC earlier he was
then a citizen of Miss. The enumerator instruted to list all people who live
in his particular area, did just that. There is still the possibiity that
instead of being father-son, they were brothers. The Father of James Cash Jr
was married in 1808. 2/2 Granville Co NC, and a birth 1827-1829 would be within
reasonable birth cycle. James Jr was married 27 nov 1826, and 1827 birth
possible. There is no record of the children of Sr James except he Married
Nelly Walker and had James Jr who married Amanda Bledsoe, otherwise we have
James Jr's family in 1850 Marshall Co census. Washington who could bave been
first son whould not appear in family as he was over 21 and gone. He does
appear in separate dwellings close to James Jr w/ Camilla. I have the lines on
James Sr back to Immigrant Wm Cash who settled in Westmoreland Co, VA 1673. I
am now working onNC, many went to Ark. I feel Washinton is either bro or son.
Sincerely, Don Cash. (This from Opal Melton (Don Cash) San Diego, CA 29 Dec
1970)."
