Married:
Here's a mystery! In 1871 Florence and Albert Hastings, grandchildren, were being looked after by Amelia Cutbush. In 1861 Florence Hastings was with her mother Ellen Hastings in Croydon.
Ellen completely fits the profile for Ellen Cutbush, except that I can't find a marriage to Mr Hastings, and there is no husband at home in 1861.
Ellen married ( again ?) in 1865, as Ellen Cutbush. She and John Trestain left Kent and moved all over the country. In 1871 they were in Walsall, in 1881 in Somerset.
In 1881 an Albert Henry Trestain b. 1863 Hythe was in Walsall working as a Journeyman Confectioner the trade of his step-father. In 1891 he was in London, a Police Constable.
In 1879 a Florence Trestain b. 1860 died in Walsall, Staffs.
So it seems the children went to Staffordshire with Ellen and John, after 1871, using the name Trestain, although they had both been registered Hastings.
And who was their father ? Certificate sent for. [1]
