From the 1851 Census (HO107 Piece 2495 Folio 225 Page 12) there was a Catherine Jones, 21, from Aberdovey, Merionethshire, working as a House Servant for David Davies, 60, Perpetual Curate of Pennal from Bala, Merionethshire, at Terrace Road, Aberdoevey, Merionethshire, Wales.
From the 1861 Census (RG9 Piece 4240 Folio 76 Page 8) Catherine Lewis, 30, from Towyn, Merionethshire, was with her husband Thomas, 31, Trinity Pilot from Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, at Bath Place, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With them were their sons Thomas H(enry), 5, Scholar, and William, 3, both born in Towyn, Merionethshire.
From the 1871 Census (RG10 Piece 5602 Folio 47 Page 12) Catherine, widow, 40, Lodging House Keeper was at Plas Dovey, Bath Place, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With her were her daughter Treyphena (sic), 7, and son Thomas, 1. All three were born in Aberdovey, Merionethshire.
From the 1881 Census (RG11 Piece 5478 Folio 44 Page 9) Catherine, widow, 50, Lodging House Keeper, was at Plas Dovey, Bath Place, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With her were her children William, 23, Seaman, Tryphena, 17, General Domestic Servant, and Thomas, 11, Scholar. They were all born in Aberdovey, Merionethshire. Lodging there were Ann E Preston, widow, 58, "Rent, Dividends, Interests", from Chester, her daughter Constance Preston, 30, "Interests of Money", from Denbighshire, and Ellinor Roberts, 56, "Rent, Dividends, Interests", from Chester.
From the 1891 Census (RG12 Piece 4587 Folio 50 Page 14) Catherine, widow, 62, Lodging House Keeper, was at Plas Dovey, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With her were her sons Henry, 35, Draper, and Thomas, 21, Sailor, and granddaughter, Kattie Lewis, 4. They were all born in Aberdovey, Merionethshire. Visiting the family was Catherine Harries, widow, 50, Living on own her means and from Dolgelly, Merionethshire, whilst Lizzie Jones, 21, from Llwyngwril, Merionethshire, was a Servant in the house. Boarding there was George Whitworth, 29, from Leamington, Warwickshire, Living on his own means.
From the 1901 Census (RG13 Piece 5190 Folio 36 Page 14) Cathrine, widow, 71, Living on own means, was with her son-in-law John P, 37, Builder, and daughter Tryphena, 37, at Plas Dovey, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With her were her granddaughters Lizzie T, 13, Kattie M, 14, and Buddyg G, 1. John was born in Towyn, Merionethshire, the rest of the family in Aberdovey, Merionethshire. Also present was servant Sarah Spoonley, 19, Domestic Servant from Aberdovey, Merionethshire.
Also as mother of John LEWIS. Her headstone is in Aberdyfi cemetery. She shares the inscription with her daughter Tryphena Lewis nee Jones. The stone has information on three sides.
