  From the Commonwealth War Graves Commission: Wilfred was a Sergeant (Obs.) in 15 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. He died on 12th May 1940 age 28. His service number was 562875 and he was the son of Henry Robert and Susannah SHORTLAND; husband of Florence Elizabeth SHORTLAND, of Limbury, Bedfordshire. He was buried at Heverlee War Cemetery (6. C. 10). From Iris Doreen Owens' notes: Wilfred Owen Shortland: Born March 12th 1912. Married: Florence Claridge. Died on Active Service R.A.F. over Belgium, 1940.
