Hi Phil, Its a bit complicated (and sensitive). My Auntie Sandy (nee Sandra Maureen Thompson 05-05-1941 born in Berkshire due to war - 09-02-2008 Southampton) married in Southampton in 1977 to Anthony George Hardy snr (14/01/1939 Dorset-03-12-2003-Southampton). They each had a child from a previous marriage Sandra's daughter Yolanda 1964 (Sandy had married Joseph Main(e) Hannan in Southampton in 1963. He was Scottish) and Tony's daughter Suzanne (now uses surname Hardy-Smith - She married a Derek Smith but now divorced). Tony and Sandra lived together a number of years before marrying had a further 3 children together Angela 1966, Tony jnr 1967 and Nicholas 1971. Sandra's daughter stayed in the family unit, but Tony's daughter stayed with her and they eventually moved to America. Her mother Jean Cornell? is also deceased. but I think she must have spent her childhood in Southampton. Suzanne came back to the UK and married Derek Smith here but returned to USA some years ago with her 3 children, Emily, Adam and Bethany (the first two are married themselves now). The Hardy 'children' UK/USA still keep in contact. Tony jnr, Anthony George R Hardy, died aged 39 on 25/03/2007 after a long illness. Such a nice man, good character who was always happy and cracked jokes (his funeral service was so packed out people had to stand). One of the highlights of his adult life was to decorate the home of Matt Le Tissier, a footballer for Southampton. He left a widow and 3 young children. The ride hasn't been an easy one but he would be very proud of them. They are good, and talented kids. Youngest, a boy has just turned 18: Wife Sharon, kids Chantelle, Stacey and Nathan Hardy. Sandra died suddenly, without warning (bit like her own grandmother Mabel Bagg. It was about 10mnths after son Tony jnr. She may have died from a medical condition (I knew she had high? cholesterol a number of years), but personally, I put it all down to a broken heart (loss of much loved mother, husband and child. Even though she loved her children and grandchildren to bits, I feel it was simply too much for her to bear). Not sure if you need this for your famly tree, but I've just lost my Auntie Pearl Tuesday, 24/05/2016 after a short illness (My mum Betty and her sister, my Auntie Sandy's elder sister - this leaves only mum 80yrs and her brother Terry 71 now). She was a lovely lady/Auntie - always happy. Pearl was 87yrs and 6wks shy of her 88th birthday 05/Jul. Her mother Ena was the same age when she died and 3wks away from her 88th birthday 01/Oct. Nan's ashes buried 26/10/1997 and Dad died that same evening (think you may already know this) Hope this helps. Mary xxx ................................................................................... Please can you email me if you need any further as not sure how long I shall keep my membership running. Lots of info online if you look but wish they could provide birth/death certificates too. Think I found a picture of my maternal Nan Ena's grandfather on another's family tree (William Henry Cook). I never knew about him. He may have been visiting a brother who had moved to America. That's where Ena's brother, my Great Uncle Bill got his namesake? William Henry Guy Bagg. (Guy as he was born on Nov 5th) Another decendant (not my immediate line) may have been one of the first Firemen in Newquay, Cornwall, and another (not of my immediate line) sent to Australia as a convict for stealing sheep in Winchester. Gets all very exciting. Interesting about our ancestors coming from Devon, and some of mine coming from Cornwall, as that area of the UK is always our preferred destination.
