- Lieutenant (temporarily Captain) Constance Adelaide Judd was awarded the ARRC (Military) Medal in the New Years honours of 1952. Family history (Audrey) has constnace of the Australian Embassy contingent on board USS Missouri in Japan at the signing of Peace on 2 September 1945.
During WW2, Constnace enlisted as Voluntary Aid Detachment on 10 November 1941. She served at the Australian General Hospital Unit, Alice Springs. 1 August 1947 Iwakuni, Japan, 27 Oct 1947: Eta Jima Hapan with BCOF British Commonwealth General Hospital. Promoted to Corporal on 20 November 1943; Lieutenant on 23 august 1945; on 23 January 1946 to Assistant Commander AAMWS 130 General Hospital. There appears to be a period 1947 to 1952 when Constance was attatched to the Australian Embassy. Discharged 28 August 1952. Address given at time of discharge: Majestic Hotel 151 Fitzroy Terrace, St Kilda, Victoria.
It would appear that Constance was the only person in the family to have contact with Charles Howard (father)after he ?left? the marriage with Ruby Stella. Amongst her belongings was a bible stamped on the first page ?Blanchetown Hotel Room 4?, on the second page was the signature of Charles Howard Judd and inside the bible was an Australian Military Forces Church of England confirmation certificate dated 27 October 1943, Alice Springs. Was the bible given to Constance by Charles at the time of her confirmation?
