Notes |
Margaret Harvey (nee Bound) has very kindly sent me her information about the Hamer family. Her sources are numerous:
Bill Barker's Montgomeryshire Families CD Rom
Dorrie Carver, deceased considered to be the Hamer expert by the Powys Family History Society, not related to my line.
Eleanor Enns, we made contact through a "notice board" on the Web. We have not found a connection except possibly by marriage, she is also a Bound researcher.
Michael Gibbon, our common ancestor is Abraham Hamer who married Mary Powell. He is descended through Jane Hamer who married Samuel Humphreys. Jane was the daughter of Abraham and Mary Hamer (nee Powell). He worked mainly from Dorrie Carver's notes.
Anne Griffiths is descended from Sarah Hamer, daughter of Abraham Hamer and his wife, Catherine Rees. Our common ancestor is Abraham Hamer (my 7 x great grandfather) who married Sarah, surname unknown. She is also a descendant of my Powell family. Hersources include Wills, Probate Abstracts, and Parish Registers.
David Humphreys is descended from Jane Hamer who married Samuel Humphreys. Jane was the daughter of Abraham Hamer and his wife Mary Powell.
Gordon Pritchard, his wife is descended from Abraham and Sarah Hamer (maiden name unknown).
Terry Smith stated that my Hamer line ties in through his Weale one to an Edward Lucas. His e-mail address was "@lds.net" and I wondered if he was collecting information rather than actually being a Hamer descendant.
Neil Taylor, is descended from a Margaret Lucas from Llangurig who married an Edward Lewis in Cefnllys. Not sure of his connection to my Hamers, may just be gathering information. Lives in Utah.
Abraham Hamer, son of Richard and Dorothy (maiden name unknown) Hamer married first cousin Sarah Hamer, daughter of John and Mary (maiden name unknown) Hamer. Abraham Hamer son of Abraham and Catherine (nee Rees) Hamer married first cousin Catherine Hamer, daughter of Henry and Catherine Hamer (nee Rees). This marrying of cousins causes some problems in the "tree" where the children of the marriages are concerned.
