The Beauforts go back to John of Gaunt, then Edwards III - I, Henry III, King John, Henry II, Empress Matilda, Henry I and finally William the Conqueror. On his wife's side, through a few generations of nobility in Flanders, we find a marriage into that family of one Aelfthryth, daughter of Alfred the Great. Quite the blood line!
