I have an old photo and info re Frederick Daniel Bartley 1880, would you like a copy? If so how can I upload it?
Admin Reply by: Winks
Hello Roy,

I am always grateful for any old (or new) photographs as they enhance the website and add interest.

There is an option to upload photos and/or documents on each individual page.

If you go to https://williamsfamilytree.co.uk/tree/getperson.php?personID=I53446&tree=wft you will see a little camera icon under Frederick's name together with the text "Submit Photo / Document". Click on this, enter your name, email address and description of the item, then browse for the file on your computer then click on "Submit Attachment".

Alternatively, email it to me.

Cheers,
Phil.

Hi Phil

You have part of my family through marriage listed within your family tree, how are you related? You have Max as one of the children to Marion and George, we have no record of this person. Both Marion and George are now deceased. What is your source for Max , is it definitely correct? https://williamsfamilytree.uk/tree/getperson.php?personID=I34689&tree=wft

Thanks so much
Tilly
Admin Reply by: Winks
Hi Tilly,

The relationship is through Jane Susannah Cox Pugh (1840-1918) who married thrice.

As for Max, I need to look into it as there are some inconsistencies with my data that came from a source in New Zealand and that I have not been able to fully verify as yet.

I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Kind egards,
Phil

Hi Phil,
You have Thomas Hawkes in your family history on here. He was my Great Grandfather. How is he related to you. Obviously we must be distant related too.
Would be wonderful if you could reply back to me with information. I have been studying my family history for 20 yrs on and off.

Hi Andrew,

Many thanks for the information.

For some reason I did not have Alfred Henry Farrar in my database, but I do have his siblings and parents etc.

The connection to the Williams family is rather remote and convoluted and centres around one Jane Susannah Cox Pugh who married thrice. Interestingly, her first marriage was to a Bryan Lister but as yet I have not found a connection to Annie Lister.

Hi. Emma Jane Tranter who married Albert Rennie died on 6 March 1908. She was a patient in the asylum. She and Albert had 4 children but he went on to have another child with Elizabeth Morgan.

Hi Clare,

Many thanks for the update.

I've found 5 children:
Lily Jane (1895)
Elsie Grace (1896)
Hilda Gwendoline (1899)
Albert Henry (1901-1902)
William Samuel (1903-1903)

The other lad was Albert Rennie Morgan born 1909 and Elizabeth's maiden name would be Powell. Am I correct?

my mother was a Farrar and i have traced her family back to 1010. Not sure where the Farrar's fit into to your tree.
Admin Reply by: Winks
Hi Andrew,

With over 40 Farrars in The Williams Family Tree I would need a little more information about your family before I could look for a connection.

Perhaps you could email me some details of your Farrars and I will see what I can do.

My great, great grandfather was William Stafford, born in Whissendine in 1818. Am wondering if we are related.
Admin Reply by: Winks
Hi Julie,

Your great great great grandparents were William Stafford and Sophia Collin. Whether this William is my William Posnett Stafford I don't know (yet).

My William would have been 23 when the marriage took place - 21 Aug 1810 - so it's possible, especially as there are no records of another William baptised about the same time in Whissendine.

The connection to my William Posnett Stafford is via my wife's family and is not direct.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Phil.

Hello Phil.

The Beauforts go back to John of Gaunt, then Edwards III - I, Henry III, King John, Henry II, Empress Matilda, Henry I and finally William the Conqueror. On his wife's side, through a few generations of nobility in Flanders, we find a marriage into that family of one Aelfthryth, daughter of Alfred the Great. Quite the blood line!

Regards,

David

Wow! Interesting is an understatement!!

Thanks for the info.

I see there are some Raleighs floating about too and wondered whether Sir Walter was connected?

We have a link to Charles II on my mother's side and Harald Blaatand (Bluetooth) on my brother-in-law's side.

I have been doing my family history a long time. My husband's family are descended from William Arthur Dering born 1857 Woolwich, Kent. He married Mary Ann Creed, 1880 Newington. Their daughter Florence Mary Dering born 1881 St Saviour married Frank Henry Singer in 1904 Lambeth. Their daughter Doris Florence Singer married Harold Edward Boyce in 1928.

Hello my 3x great grandpa John Mansell married Mary Ann Pugh in 1819 in Mynydisslwyn. She appears to have been a minor, she needed the consent of Samuel Pugh and a witness to the wedding was Theophilus Pugh. I can’t find many of them and wondered if he might have been your ancestor. Do you know where he was living at about that time ? Could he have been Samuels brother?
Many thanks Nikki Mansell Day
Admin Reply by: Winks
Hi Nikki,

If Samuel was born/baptised in 1799 in Meole Brace, Shropshire, then yes, he could well be Theo's brother.

Theophilus was baptised in 1801 in Meole Brace. The parents of both Sam and Theo were John and Mary.

As to where they may have been in 1819 is anyone's guess.

There is a baptism for a Mary Pugh recorded in 1797 in Meole Brace with the same set of parents, but that would make her 22 in 1819 and in no need of consent - unless her parents were deceased, perhaps.

If you have anything to add please let me know.

Cheers,
Phil.

To add to your Norton side of the tree, whom I knew of -

George Norton had two children with his wife, Gertrude. I don't know why, but they appeared to have the nicknames of Steve and Stephanie. George Norton was a mayor of Dudley. Their children were Rosalie Mary Croft (nee Norton), who was born 19.11.1930 and John Richard Cherrington Norton (b. 1934?). Both are now deceased. John died at a young age, but had three children with his wife, Wendy. Their names are Sarah, Christopher and Victoria. They are all married and have children. I don't have any up-to-date details of them. John's wife, Wendy, subsequently married a Mr Walker (I don't know his first name) and her three children took their step-father's surname.

Hi Helen,

Many thanks for the information. John and Wendy's first child was Caroline though, not Sarah. I have confirmed the rest of your tale - apart from the Steve and Stephanie part!! 🙂

Good Morning.

For a long time there has been rumour in our family that there was an Earl in my family a long way back. Apparently, the Earl in our family was in the admiralty.

We were always led to believe that the geneology for the Earl was on my Grzndfather's side (Maund), but only recently has it been suggested that it comes from my Grandfather's Mother's side.

Her name was Mary Ann Jervis.

I was wondering if you have any insight into this that might be useful?

Thank you for your time,
Kind regards,
Chris
Admin Reply by: Winks
Hi Christopher,

Early indications are that the Jervis family were Potters and Miners. It would appear that Mary Ann Jervis's parents were Frederick and Betsey. Frederick was a Coal Miner. His father was Enoch Jervis, a Potter. Enoch's parents may have been James and Hannah but I don't know James's occupation.

Enoch and his wife, Mary, had about 10 children and Frederick and Betsey had quite a few too. Whether any of the children's partner's ancestors were Earls or Admiralty could take a while to establish. If you could furnish me with any more details it may help.

Kind regards,
Phil.
phil@williamsfamilytree.uk

P.S. It looks like Arthur Maund's mother's family were also Miners.

Hi there!
Sadly there are a few inaccuracies on this family tree - my mother Gwyneth Dunderdale nee Parry (sister of Eirwen) was an unmarried mother and my younger subsequent siblings Heather Parry, Stephan Parry, Gordon Parry, Adrian Parry and Andrew Parry kept the Parry name because their father (my stepfather) Stephen MCCann Holborn was my mother's common in law husband. They stayed together for 13 years until his death. My mother later married Robert Dunderdale - and became their stepfather, but they did not take his name. I would be grateful if you could amend this record and I am happy for you to use this information. I thank you for the detailed information about my grandfather and grandmother. Kind regards Katrina Rhodes (nee Parry)

I discovered him through one of his many Bodmin goal admissions about 1820 he married Priscilla Treloar and lived in cornwall Redruth and Helston . Think he was a bit of a hard character ( and scoundrel) All tracing routes lead me back to Bradford on Avon and the Morgan’s hill independent church so if anyone can help me find out more about this larger then life character Isaac vincen as he was baptised l would be most grateful

Hi Phil,
Your help please, if possible. A while ago I shared info with you about Margaret Sutherland 1824-1895 and her family. I am continuing to look at the Sutherland family and am struck by the number of deaths in 1849 for Donald Sutherland ID 138030 and members of his family ID 10380. I wonder if you could share with me, if you know, the causes of death of Donald, his wife Anne/Annie, their daughter Elizabeth/Betty and Annie's mother Isobel Bruce. It can't be a coincidence that they all died in November 1849. I'm guessing it was a disease of some description but I've looked on Scotland's People but have drawn a blank.
Yours in hope.

Sorry, I have had a look to see what I can find but, like you, have drawn a blank. I think the only way you will find out is to obtain their death certificates.
